An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST HAVE A WORK-STUDY AWARD
Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Technical Director, the Production Assistant works before, during, and after events to prepare, maintain, and clean‑up all venues within FUSION: 708, The Meadow, and The Cell Theatre. From larger scale live music, dance, and theatrical performances, to private parties and events, the Production Assistant ensures that artists, renters, and patrons at FUSION can create art and build community in a safe, well‑maintained, and smooth‑running environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist with the set‑up, running, and break‑down of FUSION events and productions.
Assist the technical director and other FUSION staff on work calls (i.e. lighting hang and focus, set builds and strikes, seating bank construction, art exhibition hangs and strikes, facility organization and maintenance).
Duties may include: parking and traffic direction, stage and event hall set‑up and breakdown (moving chairs, tables, stage platforms, curtains, and seating banks), facilities cleaning, organization, and maintenance, concession sales, crowd control, and some lighting/AV equipment operation.
Shift lengths vary depending on the event, workload, and your availability. Shifts will be offered on a weekly basis.
Minimum Qualifications Enrolled in a degree‑seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half‑time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (audit hours do not count), and if work study, you must meet satisfactory academic progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicant must be work study eligible at UNM.
Experience in live events, catering, or customer service preferred.
Background in technical theatre (lighting, sound, stagehands) is a plus but not required.
Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
Can lift up to 40 lbs. and is comfortable being on their feet for long periods of time.
