Position Overview The Donor Center Technician plays a vital role in the plasma donation process, ensuring donor safety and compliance with all quality standards.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Interest in making a difference in the world
Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
Patient, detail‑oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Good communication skills and ability to engage donors positively
Responsibilities
Conduct pre‑donation medical screening.
Interact with customers and respond to their needs.
Assess donor suitability and engage in set‑up procedures.
Ensure all donor screening information is complete and accurate.
Maintain donor confidentiality at all times.
Occupational Demands Occupational Demands Form # 71:
Work is performed in a plasma center. Exposure to biological fluids with potential infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F while working in a plasma freezer. Personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear is required. Work is performed sitting or standing for an entire shift, bending and twisting the neck and waist for 1‑2 hours per day. Frequent hand movements with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Frequent foot movement; may occasionally squat, crouch, or sit on one’s heels. Light lifting of up to 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs. May reach below shoulder height. Hearing acuity essential. Color perception, near vision, and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks, listen and understand information presented orally or in writing, and perform a wide range of complex tasks under variable demands with little predictability. Relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
