Position Summary Join the team where quality, service, and safety come first. As a Cook's Helper, you'll assist with food preparation, maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards, and help create a welcoming dining experience that makes UD feel like home for our students.

Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of all food items in a timely and efficient manner, as required by the daily menu or work sheets.
Ensure correct portion sizes and proper temperature of all prepared items.
Maintain a sanitary kitchen and follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
Meet and greet customers respectfully, ensuring customer satisfaction and providing excellent customer service.
Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
Listen attentively and comprehend verbal instructions in English.
Basic math skills.
Work independently with an appropriate amount of supervision.
Minimum of one year of experience in a food preparation position.
Visually differentiate colors for food safety purposes.
Work when exposed to wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise.
Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
Exert well‑paced mobility for periods up to four hours, walk, bend, stoop, use finger dexterity, lift equipment and supplies up to 40 pounds, and stand for up to four hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree or certification from a post‑secondary culinary arts training program.
Experience in a high‑volume à la carte operation for at least one year.
Managerial ServSafe certification.
At least three years of proven customer service skills.
Professional demeanor.
Experience assisting customers.
Experience working with students and a diverse multi‑cultural staff.
Schedule & Hours 35 hours per week. 9 months/year (Early August – Early May). Swing shift with rotating weekends. Must be able to work weekends and holidays per the union contract. Schedule may vary for special events. Eligible for all full‑time benefits.
Location MaryCrest – 11:30am – 7:00pm (Multiple locations available).
Additional Information Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. The University does not provide work visa sponsorship for this position.
