Reading Teacher/Interventionist K-5, 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (F.T.E.) – Twin Cities International Schools (TCIS).

The Reading Teacher/Interventionist supports students’ literacy development across kindergarten through fifth grade. This position provides daily reading instruction to leveled reading groups and delivers targeted reading interventions to students who are not meeting grade‑level expectations. The teacher collaborates closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and administrators to promote strong literacy outcomes for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver, and assess high‑quality daily reading instruction to two groups.

Use evidence‑based instructional practices aligned to the science of reading.

Differentiated instruction based on student assessment data, classroom needs, and individual learning profiles.

Integrate reading comprehension, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and writing as appropriate to grade‑level standards.

Provide targeted, research‑based interventions to students performing below grade‑level expectations.

Collect and analyze data to track student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.

Maintain organized intervention plans, schedules, and documentation for each student served.

Analyze assessment data (screeners, diagnostic assessments, benchmarks) to determine intervention needs and instructional priorities.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate reading support, share data, and align instructional approaches.

Participate in MTSS/RTI meetings to review student progress and help determine needed interventions.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and support strategies.

Work with coaches, special educators, EL teachers, and other staff to ensure cohesive, student‑centered support.

Stay up‑to‑date with literacy research, instructional methods, and reading intervention programs.

Participate in professional development related to literacy and student support.

Uphold all school and district policies, including assessment, data privacy, and instructional expectations.

Contribute positively to school culture and support the mission and goals of the district.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s degree in Literacy or Reading preferred).

Valid state teaching license with appropriate Reading or Elementary Education endorsement.

Prior experience in elementary reading instruction and/or intervention preferred.

Strong understanding of structured literacy, phonics‑based instruction, and MTSS/RTI frameworks.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Ability to interpret data and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.

Work Schedule & Environment

Full‑time position following the district’s calendar.

Instruction occurs in classrooms and designated intervention spaces.

Salary and Benefits Salary is determined by experience and education and is prorated for a mid‑year start. 2025‑26 school year licensed employee salaries range from $46,635.47 to $84,238.12. Minnesota licensed Tier 3 or 4 teacher salary starts at $50,309.21. Additional salary amounts are available for completion of a Master’s, Master’s + 60 credits, Ed.D. or Ph.D.
