Custodian Employee Supervisor: Director Environmental Services Date of Hire: Department: Environmental Services Evaluation Date: PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of a Custodian is to maintain a hygienic, safe, and well-kept facility for the residents and co-workers. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY: You have the authority to perform any assigned task and report all unsafe conditions to the Director of Environmental Services. JOB FUNCTIONS

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Requirements: 1= Exceeds all 2 = Meets All 3 = Meets Few The goal is for employees to have mostly "2"s. A "1" can be given only occasionally and for extraordinary performance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Remove trash and dirty linen from all units and STOP Rooms Regular vacuuming to reduce the amount of allergens and dirt being brought further into the facility Cleaning the floors and wiping down tables of both first floor dining rooms after each meal Dry-mop Main Street area and Recreation Removal of trash and soiled bibs from the room in between the two dining rooms Efficiently vacuum Unit 3 and Unit 4 Hallways and parlor Clean cafeteria every night during the weekday Clean Hair Salon by sweeping, dusting, mopping; remove soiled towels and garbage, replenish clean towels Clean 2 “Public” rest rooms each night Completes daily checks and restocks all closets and wire linen carts Makes sure blue linen totes are brought to the first floor and a pick-up sheet is attached Mon, Wed, and Fri Empties outside garbage containers Locks and unlocks doors, does security rounds Weekly Projects
Cleaning elevators, vacuum and mop all stairwells, vacuum Windemere front vestibule, clean and disinfect trashcans in common areas and black custodian gondola Biweekly Projects
Carpet cleaning Unit 2, 3, 4, Front Entry, and Ramp; wet mop floors and disinfect surfaces in all soiled utility closets; clean table bases in all dining rooms and parlors; rotate linen and straighten shelves Monthly Projects
Dust and disinfect all ceiling vents and common area fan‑coil units; clean all windows, doors, and microwaves; extractor clean all dining room and parlor chairs; check/empty sharps containers Quarterly Projects
Defrost and clean Med. & Break Room refrigerators; sweep boiler room Performance Evaluation Criteria
Quality of Work Ability Conduct Attendance Punctuality Cooperation Self‑confidence Verbal ability Tact Initiative Attitude to authority Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED preferred Experience
Experience in Medical or Hospitality preferred Excellent customer service and staff coordination skills Willing to train Working Conditions
Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours Is subject to frequent interruptions Is involved with patients, residents, staff, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc. Communicates with the medical staff and other hospital departments’ staff Attends and participates in continuing training programs as they relate to the position May be exposed to infectious waste and diseases Is subject to lifting, carrying and supporting patients Must be constantly alert for patient safety Specific Requirements
Dress code is a clean and tidy appearance wearing white shirt, tan pants, sturdy shoes, and name tags Must meet attendance and punctuality standards – Demonstrates reliability and accountability Radio procedures: Open communication with all nursing stations, as well as the MV Hospital staff Apply TODAY!
