Summary Consistently provide a safe and healthy environment for all patrons while maintaining a community-friendly atmosphere through enforcement of all facility rules.
Position runs May- September with hours from 7 am-10 pm every day of the week.
Essential Functions
Follow the Lifeguard Manual and perform all duties and functions of a lifeguard.
Protect the safety and health of all patrons using first aid, surveillance, and rescue skills.
Communicate policies, rules, and regulations to all that use the facility.
Provide excellent customer service through consistent, fair, and courteous enforcement of all rules.
Attendance at pre-season training May 16th and 17th from 8am-6 pm.
Ability to attend and participate in in-service trainings on Tuesday mornings, 7-8:30 am, from June 9th - July 28th.
Complete 300 yards of swimming on your front on a weekly basis.
Related Functions
Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
Assist with swim team and special event functions.
Work as a team to complete facility cleaning and daily stocking as needed.
Assist with general duties for other staff in the event of their absence.
Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include frequent light to occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), swimming, standing, and walking for long periods of time, bending, pushing, and pulling.
Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to talk, hear, and see.
Competencies
Thorough knowledge of lifeguard skills.
Knowledge of pool facilities operations.
Skills
Strong swimming skills.
Abilities
Ability to demonstrate tact and patience when dealing with customers.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work habits to meet ever-changing schedules requirements.
Ability to show initiative in all situations.
Required Education and Experience
Current certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard C certification Required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Prior lifeguarding experience.
