Postdoctoral Fellow, Digital, Data, and Design Institute – Laboratory for Innovation Science
Description The Digital Data Design (D^3) Institute and the LISH/Data Science & AI Operations Lab at Harvard Business School seek postdoctoral fellows skilled in computer science, statistics, operations research, or related computational fields. Fellows will develop novel quantitative methods at the intersection of statistical learning, experimental design, and optimization to address challenges created by the operationalization of AI within partner organizations. They will collaborate with HBS and D^3 faculty on research spanning Business Model Transformation, Operating Model Transformation, Organizational and Workforce Transformation, Performance and Metrics, Data Privacy and Transparency, and Societal Impact.
Causal inference and design and analysis of experiments
Reinforcement learning and sequential decision‑making
Analysis of complex systems, networks, and large‑scale data
Machine learning, generative AI, NLP, or algorithmic decision systems
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent in Statistics, Operations Research, Management, Computer Science, or Information Systems, completed prior to start date.
Additional Qualifications Strong background in operations research, statistics, or computer science, and the ability to work across disciplinary boundaries to generate rigorous, high‑impact insights.

Hiring Information Term positions starting July 2026 (start date flexible) through June 30, 2027, with potential renewal based on funding and performance. No teaching obligations. Relocation funding not provided. The role is offered as a hybrid model with required onsite presence on the Boston, MA campus. Salary range: $75,000 annually. Interviews will begin on January 7 and occur on a rolling basis; an assessment may be part of the interview process.
