BASIC FUNCTION The Cook II is responsible for preparing grilled food items to perfection. This includes cooking meat, seafood, vegetables, and other grilled items according to the restaurant’s recipes and specifications. The Grill Line Cook must work efficiently under pressure, maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure that all food is cooked safely and to the highest quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

Proven experience as a grill cook or line cook in a high-volume kitchen environment.

Familiarity with grilling techniques and various cooking methods.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Knowledge of grilling techniques and meat temperatures.

Ability to stand for long periods and work in a high-heat environment.

Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cook and prepare grilled items according to recipes, specifications, and customer requests

Ensure the grill is preheated, clean, and ready for use at the beginning of each shift.

Monitor the temperature of the grill and food to ensure food is cooked safely and to the desired doneness.

Prep and portion ingredients for the grill station, including marinating meats, chopping vegetables, and preparing sauces.

Season and grill food items according to recipes and personal judgment

Ensure that all food items are cooked to the proper temperature and are presented according to the restaurant's standards

Monitor food quality and presentation, adjusting as necessary to meet standards.

Maintain a clean and organized grill station throughout the shift

Ensure that all kitchen equipment is used safely and is in proper working condition.

Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines.

Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate cooking times and ensure timely food delivery.

Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.

Monitor stock levels and communicate with the kitchen manager to ensure that supplies are reordered as needed.

Properly label and store food items to prevent spoilage and waste.

Ensure that all customer requests and dietary restrictions are accommodated.

Respond promptly and courteously to any special requests or concerns.

Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.

ENVIRONMENT Indoors with artificial lighting, exposed to high heat temperatures and uneven surfaces. Occasionally exposed to slippery surfaces, loud noises and cold cooler/freezer temperatures.
