School Counselor Job Description - Espiritu Santo Catholic School The School Counselor is a professional member of Espiritu Santo Catholic School who assists the Principal in the integration of school‑based counseling services for the school community. The position is rooted in our faith in God and the mission of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Espiritu Santo Catholic School and the Florida Department of Education.

Espiritu Santo Catholic School provides a comprehensive counseling program designed to meet the individual needs of students in every grade. Individual and whole‑group counseling techniques are used in conjunction with conferences with parents, faculty, and appropriate agencies to promote optimal conditions for personal growth of the individual students. Parents and students are encouraged to contact the school counselor when educational, personal, or social difficulty arises at home or at school and is interfering with the student’s ability to work to his or her potential.

Position Details Minimum of 3 days per week leading to full‑time status.

Schedule: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Qualifications

Preferred – Master’s in Counselor Education.

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, elementary, or middle school education.

Minimum of three years of successful, effective school‑counseling experience.

Compassionate with ability to integrate the Catholic faith into counseling students and parents.

Mental health knowledge.

Guidance and counseling K‑12 certification.

ESOL endorsement.

Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based on degree and experience. Eligible for health benefits, pension, and 401(k).

Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background screening.
