JOB DESCRIPTION The Mold Technician I performs routine maintenance on plastic injection molds both in the press and on the bench under the direct supervision of a Lead Tech/Sr. Mold Technician. This includes disassembling, cleaning, organizing, and reassembling complex tooling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine maintenance on plastic injection molds in the press and on the bench
Disassemble, visually inspect, clean, organize, and reassemble high cavitation tooling
Ensure all equipment is working properly
Maintain shop awareness and cleanliness
Participate in activities to ensure departmental compliance with Federal, State, Local and Company regulatory requirements (FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO, EEOC and company policies related to product manufacture, batch control, documentation, housekeeping, preventive maintenance, calibration, associate training and safety)
Work on special projects as they arise, as directed
Demonstrate support through solid communication skills, attitude, dedication, commitment, respect, pride and trust
Follow leadership by taking initiative and ownership of tasks and projects
Perform additional duties as necessary without altering the basic scope of the position
Basic troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies
Introduction to shop paperwork and documentation using correct terminology (FA, tool work order)
Introduction to understanding torque settings
Introduction to measurement techniques (micrometer, calipers, height gauges)
Introduction to using standard vs. metric measurements
Introduction to mold cleaning
Introduction to stoning/polishing basic components
Introduction to the mechanics and terminology of a mold and their functions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Mechanical aptitude
Knowledge and understanding of basic shop tools and hand tools
Basic shop math
Basic knowledge of troubleshooting mechanical assemblies
Basic knowledge to read/understand 2D prints (part/tool) is desired, but not required
Basic machining skills (grinder, lathe, mill) is desired, but not required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be 18 years of age
High School Diploma required
Previous injection molding or tooling experience desired but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee must communicate verbally and in writing
This role routinely uses standard office equipment
Work may be performed in a clean room environment
Employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time
Employee may need to work inside/outside injection molding machines and on ladders
Required to lift or move up to 50 lbs
Work schedule may change anytime per business needs
Requires travel less than 5% of the time
