Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to inquiries quickly and courteously, assist with video‑gaming needs, inform about promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and thank guests for shopping at GameStop.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system via PC keyboard, handle changes, bag merchandise, provide receipts, and deliver top‑notch guest service.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; answer calls promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, e.g., new title reservations, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for associates, training associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
Provide timely recognition and feedback to all associates, inputting written feedback into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, compliance training, and understand all safety, financial, and ethical responsibilities before working alone.
Schedule associates with adherence to guidelines, ensuring breaks and meals are accounted for; supervise staffing levels to maintain optimal guest service.
Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify associates are paid for all worked time.
Maintain clean, organized, and merchandised store areas, including restrooms, and keep fixtures and equipment in proper working order.
Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention, including scam awareness and safety best practices; inspect packages and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the store team in exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and perform required administrative and operational duties.
Perform inventory counts, stock/shelf restocks, and ensure products are organized and alphabetized on the sales floor.
Balance and reconcile daily business totals in the POS system, complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips accurately, and ensure sufficient cash and change for sales transactions.
Verify shipments for discrepancies/shortages, record findings in the POS system, and communicate to the Store Manager or District Manager.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly, labeling boxes and including packing lists.
Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, address hazards immediately, and report injuries promptly.
Maintain neat and organized store records/files, ensuring manuals are up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video‑game knowledge preferred.
