Since its inception in 1979 Overhead Fire Protection, Inc. has provided services within the fire sprinkler and alarm industry throughout Nevada and Northern California. We are a full-service company that designs, installs, repairs, services and inspects a variety of fire suppression systems. We are dedicated to providing complete customer satisfaction, competitive rates and personal attention to every single client. We are always available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Job Summary: The Fire Extinguisher Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire extinguishers, ensuring that they are fully functional and capable of suppressing fires effectively. The Fire Extinguisher Technician plays a critical role in Overhead Fire Protection’s business by providing excellent customer service and contributing to the safety and compliance of its clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures customers are serviced to the highest level of satisfaction through quality service and met expectations prior to leaving the jobsite.
Interacts with clients, building owners, managers, and occupants to communicate effectively regarding work done.
Conducts routine inspections of fire extinguishers to check for signs of wear, damage, or tampering.
Ensures that extinguishers are properly labeled, accessible, and in compliance with safety codes.
Performs scheduled maintenance on fire extinguishers, including replacing seals, O-rings, gauges, and other components as needed; ensures that extinguishers are in optimal condition.
Recharges fire extinguishers after use or as required by maintenance schedules and verifies that extinguishers are filled with the appropriate extinguishing agent to the correct pressure level.
Maintains accurate records of test results and retesting schedules.
Maintains detailed records of all inspections, maintenance activities, recharging, and repairs performed on each fire extinguisher, ensuring that documentation is accurate and accessible.
Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning fire extinguishers; replaces or repairs faulty components, such as valves, hoses, nozzles, and handles, to restore extinguisher functionality.
Keeps track of the inventory of fire extinguishers and related equipment, including cabinets, brackets, and signage. Monitors stock levels and reorders supplies as necessary.
Ensures that all work adheres to local, state, and national fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards. Stays updated on changes to safety codes and regulations.
Remains available for emergency calls to recharge or repair extinguishers during critical situations.
Stays current in fire extinguisher technology and safety regulations through training and professional development.
Uses a company provided service vehicle for work and keeps it well maintained and supplied with all parts, tools, and equipment; keeps the vehicle clean and organized with a complete inventory of tools and supplies.
Initiates and completes work independently and interacts collaboratively as part of a team.
Experience/Training/Education:
NV State Fire Marshal Certificate of Registration (E card)
2+ years of experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair
Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards related to fire extinguishers
Job Type:
Full-time, on-site, Monday - Friday
40 hours a week
Special Requirements:
Ability to travel to various locations; capable of starting early (6:00 a.m.)
Insurability to drive with a clean Motor Vehicle Report
Pass pre-placement physical and drug test
