Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time
Join Penske Truck Leasing as a partial‑time truck driver (Hiker/Vehicle Transporter). This casual/on‑call role is ideal for licensed CDL Class B or A drivers seeking supplemental income and flexibility, offering 0‑25 hours per week based on business needs.
Position Summary
Penske Truck Leasing seeks a highly motivated and qualified applicant for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). The role involves vehicle delivery and returns to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving our box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A holders, tractors and trailer movement. Additional tasks may include assisting the service department with parts and equipment delivery.
Schedule
Tuesday‑Thursday 7 am‑4 pm
Major Responsibilities
Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations
Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report issues to the location manager
Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
2 years of driving experience required
2 years with a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
Valid Class B CDL required; must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence
CDL Class A license preferred
Ability to read and follow written instructions
Independent work, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude
English language proficiency (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
Regular, predictable, full attendance essential
Maintain a current driver qualification file as required by DOT: annual MVR check, DOT physical, Safety Performance History records, DOT drug screening within 30 days of start, FMCSA clearinghouse review
Willingness to travel as necessary, work required schedule, submit background investigation and drug screening
Physical Requirements
Must be able to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Must move frequently, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, and regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle, safely enter/exit vehicle and rear cargo area
