ROLE SUMMARY: Sotogrande International School is seeking a dynamic and passionate

Lifeguard/Backup Monitor

to assume this role for our Summer Camps in Sotogrande.

The main responsibility of the

Lifeguard/Backup Monitor

is to ensure the safety, well‑being, and enjoyment of all campers, both in and out of the pool. As a certified lifeguard, they will supervise campers during pool time (usually three or four times a week), ensuring a safe and fun experience at all times. However, this role is not limited to lifeguarding. The Lifeguard/Backup Monitor will also serve as a key member of the monitors team, assisting with a wide range of camp activities and supporting the staff whenever necessary. This includes stepping in to cover for other monitors when they are off, helping with group activities, and providing general support to ensure the smooth running of the camp.

In addition to their lifeguarding duties, the Lifeguard/Backup Monitor will build strong, supportive relationships with campers, helping them feel comfortable, safe, and engaged throughout their stay. As a residential position, they will live on‑site and be available to ensure campers’ safety and happiness at all times, whether during structured activities or free time. The Lifeguard/Backup Monitor is expected to be flexible, adaptable, and ready to assist with the overall camp experience, making a positive contribution to both the camper and staff experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report to Head of Juniors/Head of Masters and collaborate with Senior Leadership

Be available to open and close the pool

Assist with camp activities

Step in to cover for monitors when off duty

Provide pastoral care for campers

Enforce camp procedures and guidelines

Participate in evening and late duties

Assist with daily camp operations

Emergency and incident response

First aid and health support

Be an active member of the team

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Language:

English level required: Advanced or Proficiency (C1-C2)

Criminal record (with less than 3 months of expedition)

Scanned copies of degrees and certificates

Valid first aid certificate
