District Sign Technician I, II, III, or IV (2503608)
Position Information Lubbock County Northeast Maintenance is seeking a self‑motivated individual to perform roadside sign and roadway maintenance. This role makes a difference to the traveling public.
Salary Minimum Salary: $40,918.00 | Maximum Salary: $81,351.00
Work Locations Lubbock‑A County Maintenance, 2710 E Municipal Drive, Lubbock 79404
Schedule and Travel Day shift, 40 hours per week. Requires travel up to 10% of time. Onsite location flexibility.

Responsibilities
Assist transportation maintenance crews and respond to emergency situations.
Measure and calculate materials needed.
Mix and place concrete for sign support foundations; move cement bags and related items.
Operate boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs.
Maintain inventory of signs and associated materials.
Repair and install signs, supports, foundations, and delineators in accordance with MUTCD and departmental guidance.
Inspect roadways to identify deficiencies and recommend repairs.
Coordinate nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
No formal education required.
No prior work experience required (experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent).
Must possess a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain one within 120 calendar days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications Commercial Driver's License (optional).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time; frequently lift or carry up to 10 lbs.
Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time; frequently lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
Balancing, walking, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and prolonged standing required.
Pre‑employment physical required.
Must pass a drug test prior to employment; subject to random drug testing. Note: The Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulation – 49 CFR Part 40, at 40.151(e) – does marijuana under a state law to be a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test result.
Must be able to report for duty within XX minutes on a 24‑hour basis to respond to emergency situations.
