Casual Educational Assistants

Location: Mattawa Area The Educational Assistant duties of this position are likely to include, but are not limited to, working with students with autism, behaviouralexceptionalities,physicaland developmentaldisabilities.The positionwillinvolve working as a team member in a special education program, delivering alternative program goals, therapy goals, sensory breaks, toileting support, communication needs, and outings.

Qualifications:

Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities

Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies including ABA(Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems,CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication

Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transitionand/orimplement programmingin consultation withclassroomteacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapistsi.e.speech, sensory, occupational,physiotherapy

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team

Rate of Pay: $20.80 plus 4% vacation pay and applicable statutory holiday pay
