You are the experienced
BSN RN
that will take the leadership of our
School Based Nurse Clinics
to a new level. You will bring your vast leadership skills and along with your leadership team, you will run the day to day management of nursing staff, direct and develop staff, collaborate with physicians/providers and multidisciplinary professional staff to provide care to students, patients, their families and our communities.
By assisting to ensure the appropriate assessment, treatment, and health education of students/patients/families and our communities in conjunction with referral sources, community agencies, and family and collateral contacts, you will be an integral part of our focus on
Whole-Person Healthcare . As a dynamic professional
School Based Nurse Manager
you will manage key relationships internal and external to the organization, and share responsibility for effective budgetary management of the service. You will be a member of a medical care team in accordance with NCQA - Patient Centered Medical Home standards.
This position will include up to 10% travel between locations.
As School Based Nurse Manager, you provide your expertise:
Provide nursing management of school based operation of nurse clinics, consistent with the goals and policies of the our MHS organization, school corporation administration and Indiana State Board of Nursing
Responsible for developing, distributing, and implementing nursing staff work hours, based off of operational needs
Recruits, interviews and recommends quality nursing candidates for employment
Ensures thorough orientation of nursing staff to procedures and best practices, organization policies, and customer service principles
Ensures identification of staff education needs, annually develops staff education program to meet those needs
Aligns practice of student care with Indiana Department of Education for screenings, immunizations, management of their medical conditions while documenting care and completing required school health documents
Refers and practices in alignment with the Indiana Association of School Nurse Manual
Ensures shift to shift staff level and task assignments to provide effective care, meeting student/patient/family and community needs with an awareness of budget parameters
Ensures provision of timely and compassionate student/patient care
Ensures effective communication among staff and between disciplines
Utilizes interpersonal skills, role modeling, customer feedback and disciplinary process appropriately to ensure staff performance
Ensure timely completion of assessments, documentation and treatment plans
Reviews developments in best practices and standards of care and recommends policies and procedures to maintain quality of care, and ensures compliance with federal, and state regulations and certification standards
Develops position descriptions for nursing staff, in coordination with Human Resources
Participates in organization wide performance improvement activities
Assists in credentialing process for supervised staff
Effectively collaborates with executive, operations, medical and management staff to facilitate quality care and solve problems
Ensure supervision of any nursing students present in the clinics
Responsible for evaluation, development and implementation of organization’s infection control program
Responsible for evaluation, development and implementation of organization’s medication policies
Ensures effective staffing of unit in areas of responsibility
Recommend safe and effective budgeted staffing levels
Utilize staff resources to meet budget goals and maintain effective and safe care of patients
Ensure sufficient nursing staff and support personnel to provide efficient nursing care consistent with each patient’s treatment plan
Makes recommendations regarding equipment, physical plant, programming, etc.
Works as clinic staff when needed to ensure adequate staffing
Ensures client assessment and nursing input into the treatment planning process, including nursing goals and interventions, consistent with client age specific needs
Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients and families
Maintains awareness of patient and staff safety at all times and report patient safety concerns
Makes regular client care rounds and anticipates customer’s needs and problems
Assesses the effectiveness of nursing care; assigns duties and delegate responsibilities to clinic nursing personnel according to their job descriptions
We value your experience and education as a School Based Nurse Manager:
Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Current non-probationary license in Indiana as an RN
Two (2) years nursing experience required
Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation, and a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy
