Math and ELA Tutors

Responsibilities SmartStart Education seeks small group Math and ELA tutors to work with small groups of elementary and middle school students several times throughout the week. Each small group consists of 1-4 students who have been identified as struggling with fundamental ELA and Math skills, from grades 4 through 8. Tutors will work with each group several times throughout the week at elementary and middle schools in Muncie, Indiana, either within the classroom (push‑in services) or outside the classroom (pull‑out services). Tutors should be flexible and comfortable with both settings. Each tutor must take daily attendance and monitor student progress using a personal device (mobile phone).
Schedules and times will be confirmed in the coming weeks. Services are scheduled during standard school hours.
Compensation Salary Range: $138.10 to $235.62 per day.
Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in any field (applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered).
At least one year of experience teaching or tutoring within a school environment or another educational setting.
Comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, including racial, socio‑economic, and cultural disparities.
Mastery of elementary and middle school ELA and/or Math concepts, demonstrating proficiency in the subject matter.
Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment to fostering student success.
Exemplary punctuality and adherence to established schedules.
Proficiency in communication skills for effective interaction with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
