Cancer Immunology Postdoctoral Fellow The Beg laboratory is interested in developing new strategies aimed at modulating the tumor microenvironment to increase tumor immunogenicity and response to therapeutics. Through both laboratory and clinical trial studies, ongoing projects aim to modulate tumor T cell activity using both small molecule drugs and immune modulators. Specifically, the Beg laboratory is developing novel oncolytic virus strategies, now in clinical studies, to generate potent anti‑tumor T cell responses. Additional studies are focused on the immunological effects of KRAS pathway inhibitors towards the goal of increasing efficacy and attenuating resistance mechanisms.

Position Highlights

The researcher in this NIH‑funded study will interface between the Beg lab in the Dept of Immunology and investigators in Moffitt’s Dept of Integrated Mathematical Oncology.

A key component of the project will be to investigate the mechanism by which KRAS inhibitors impact the immune tumor microenvironment.

The researcher will extensively utilize human specimens from biopsies collected in clinical trials, and resected tumors to perform spatial transcriptomic and mIF studies to define underlying mechanisms of action of KRAS inhibitors.

Moffitt integrates excellent patient care with cutting‑edge clinical and basic research. Having a cancer hospital on‑site provides unique opportunities for translational research.

Outstanding mentorship from expert faculty with wide‑ranging funded research programs including T32 Training Grants.

Encouraged and supported to apply for training grants.

The Ideal Candidate

Will have expertise in immunology and cancer biology.

Be an independent thinker with desire for cross‑disciplinary collaborations.

Responsibilities

Lead a project to define immunological impact of KRAS inhibitors in murine and human lung cancer.

Collaborate with bioinformatics and mathematical oncology teams to provide insights into spatial impact of KRAS inhibitors and incorporate new methodologies and strategies.

Credentials And Qualifications

MD or PhD in a relevant field is required.

Should have at least one first author publication.
