Instructional Literacy/Math Coach
Overview
Memphis‑Shelby County Schools is seeking a dynamic educational champion to support high‑quality instruction across more than 110,000 students. The Instructional Literacy/Math Coach works collaboratively with school leadership, observing and providing feedback on classroom instruction, facilitating professional development, and coaching teachers one‑on‑one and in small groups. The coach builds capacity for teachers to deliver rigorous instruction and ensure all students meet career and college readiness standards.

Responsibilities
Work as part of the leadership team with the building principal.
Assist in conducting needs‑assessment strategies and program evaluation.
Identify, plan, organize, and conduct professional development opportunities relevant to school needs; research and model best practices.
Assist with the Title I school‑wide budget process.
Provide direction and support to Title I schools in the development of School Improvement Plans (TSIP) regarding regulations, inventory, and professional development implementation.
Conduct internal audits to ensure all ESEA requirements are included and met.
Work closely with the building level leadership team in developing and implementing professional learning communities (PLCs) and sustaining the change process required to operate as a PLC.
Assist teacher teams in creating, administering, and analyzing data gathered from common formative assessments.
Collect artifacts such as team norms, meeting agendas, standards documents, and meeting protocols from teacher teams to monitor and assess progress.
Assist teacher teams in developing and implementing a school‑wide pyramid of interventions based on assessment results.
Assist teacher teams in implementing a guaranteed and viable curriculum by prioritizing, unwrapping standards, and creating common standards and pacing documents.
Collect, organize, and complete information necessary for reports and evaluations.
Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related area plus at least five years of classroom teaching experience.
Current teacher status with a Tennessee Educator Maintenance (TEM) level 3, 4, or 5.
Master’s degree preferred.
Valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement appropriate to grade level.
Administrator licensure preferred.
