Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year institution.

Experience in a special education classroom (strongly preferred).

Valid Texas state certification in special education.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of core academic subjects and curriculum design.

Ability to instruct, manage behavior, and adjust to varying classroom settings.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Capacity to facilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetings.

Record of successful outcomes for academically at‑risk students.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

Adapt lessons to meet student needs.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload.

Assess student performance, track progress, and update IEPs throughout the school year.

Teach small groups of students at risk in reading and math, including those in general education, 504, RTI, and English‑language learners.

Collect and analyze data to inform instruction and behavior plans.

Communicate progress with parents, counselors, teachers, and administrators.

Help students transition grades and after graduation.

Execute IDEA curricula and assessments to meet academic standards.

Submit lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.

Use technology to enhance communication and learning.

Implement a consistent behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.

Participate in managerial check‑ins, grade‑level meetings, and school functions.

Engage in district, school, and personal professional development.

Spend a minimum of 40 hours per week at the school; additional duties may include after‑school tutoring or Saturday school.
