Mission Statement

Primary Purpose
Performs nightly custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities.
Duties/Responsibilities
Perform routine nightly cleaning including sweeping, mopping, wiping down furniture and cleaning restrooms
Remove trash and waste and place it into a dumpster or trash compactor
Maintain campus buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance
Assist with cafeteria dining area set up, including arranging tables and chairs for morning use
Routinely perform light maintenance tasks such as unclogging a toilet or drain, fixing restroom partitions, fixing furniture or performing maintenance on janitorial equipment
Perform non‑routine cleaning such as, but not limited to:
Cleaning waste receptacles
Washing windows, interior and exterior
Pressure washing and other cleaning of the building exterior
Dusting furniture
Cleaning vents, fans, walls and ceilings
Deep cleaning tile, grout, carpet, LVT, VCT and other flooring
Perform deep cleaning duties that require the use of a ladder or other lifting equipment such as, but not limited to, high window cleaning, high dusting, bulb replacement and replacement of ceiling tiles
Perform non‑routine maintenance such as, but not limited to:?
Performing stripping and waxing operations
Moving furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing or for other reasons
Painting classrooms, hallways, offices and atriums Change light bulbs
Clean bodily fluids and disinfect surfaces
Notifies school administration of any needed major repairs or equipment failure
Maintains organization and cleanliness of storage, supply and maintenance areas; maintains a record of inventory and orders supplies as needed and requests re‑supply
Responds to emergency situations in order to confine, resolve or prevent injurious or otherwise hazardous conditions
Report emergencies to the Operations Director
Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent OR minimum 2 years’ experience in the janitorial service industry OR 2 years’ experience in building maintenance. Experience working in a school environment preferred but not required.
Special Sills/Certifications: Experience with quality control checks.
Required Skills/Abilities
Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical instructions. Ability to respond to and resolve common complaints. Ability to effectively present information to campus and central office management. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
Bi‑lingual Sills: No bi‑lingual skills are required.
Technology: Ability to learn and use computer software to view work orders for the day. Ability to use basic office equipment. This position also requires the ability to learn how to operate a burglar alarm. Applicant must also be able to use a smart phone to send and receive photos and text messages. Ability to use standard custodial equipment computerized displays and controls. Ability to use a computer to complete video or teleconference training.

Regularly required to reach, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, bend, climb and crawl
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Frequently required to lift or move furniture or supplies such as cafe tables, office supplies and janitorial supplies
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and exposed electrical terminals
Extended periods of being outside during extreme hot or cold weather
Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and extreme heat
Vision: distance, color, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Occasional exposure to loud equipment
Starting Pay
$17.00
Work Environment: The noise level is moderate and may have frequent interruptions. Work in a wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school(s) and construction site, continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying. Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances and toxic/poisonous agents. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.
