Instructor, Health Professions and Related Sciences (Part-time) -Pool

Inside Higher Ed – Houston, Texas Summary Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies, and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role encompasses teaching, academic advising, professional development, and institutional and community service. Maximum load of contact hours each semester (see Faculty Workload Guidelines). Participate as a part‑time instructor in departmental, divisional, and college activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching: demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in the discipline; continuously improve instruction; develop syllabi; plan and use innovative teaching methods; evaluate student progress; keep accurate records; review textbooks; teach at varied times, locations, and modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online); use technology; submit grades and attendance on time. Academic Advising: maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community; provide office hours and electronic communication; give advice on instructional or program‑specific issues; give presentations on program opportunities; work with Chair/Director on advising activities. Professional Development: set annual objectives with the department chair; keep pace with discipline developments; apply innovative technologies; participate in the evaluation process for self, department, and college. Institutional and Community Service: participate in institutional service activities (opening week, conference days, commencement); join committee or program meetings; attend department, college, or system meetings; support student activities, recruitment, admission, enrollment, retention; assist in accreditation; help with departmental objectives, budgets; revise curricula; articulate courses and programs with secondary and post‑secondary institutions. QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Master’s degree required; Master’s in health sciences or related field preferred. Experience : 3 years in human services, health science, or related area. Certifications : Industry certifications/licenses preferred; required to maintain licenses/certifications; transcript of required degree and certification(s) must accompany application. Knowledge: computer usage and software; sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and disabilities; ability to inspire and motivate. Skills & Abilities: teach day or evening classes at multiple sites; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills; self‑discipled and able to manage others.
