Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Echo Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sonography and diagnostic evaluation. This role is critical in providing high-quality echocardiographic services to patients, ensuring accurate assessments and contributing to effective treatment plans.
Responsibilities
Perform 2D, M-mode, and Doppler echocardiograms, including stress and dobutamine stress studies.
Assess heart chamber sizes, wall thickness, valve function, and blood flow.
Collaborate with cardiologists to interpret echo results and provide diagnostic data.
Conduct non-invasive vascular studies including carotid duplex, abdominal aorta, peripheral arterial and venous Doppler exams, and other vascular studies as needed.
Assess and document conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), peripheral artery disease (PAD), and carotid artery stenosis.
Perform vein mapping for sclerotherapy or surgical procedures.
Prepare and position patients for echo and vascular exams, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
Ensure accurate record-keeping of performed exams, results, and patient data.
Operate ultrasound equipment and adjust settings based on patient needs and exam requirements.
Perform routine maintenance on ultrasound machines and ensure they are in good working condition.
Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs or replacements.
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care.
Present findings and assist with clinical decision-making.
Participate in department meetings and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications
Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular Sonography or related field.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification through ARDMS, RCS through CCI or equivalent.
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification through ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI.
Current BLS required.
IV access experience preferred (not required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in echocardiography and vascular sonography.
Preferred Experience
Myocardial strain imaging.
Structural heart imaging.
Venous insufficiency studies.
Venous ablation procedures.
Requirements
Strong understanding of cardiovascular and vascular anatomy and physiology.
Excellent technical skills in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound.
Attention to detail with strong critical thinking and diagnostic abilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
