Now Hiring: 3 Aerial Lineman
Location:
On-site, Orange County, NY and to include work in Cambridge, Sydney and Mayfield, NY locations.
Type of Position:
Full-time, hourly, non-exempt.
Union Compensation:
$34.00 – $38.00/hr. (with CDL A).
Job Overview We’re looking for skilled linemen to help maintain and build new outside plant telecom fiber networks.
Key Responsibilities
Install, remove, maintain, relocate and repair aerial and underground fiber optic cable and other telecommunication transmission and distribution lines, drop cables and associated hardware.
Inspect, monitor, test and adjust telecommunication transmission lines and cables and distribution systems.
Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures or confined spaces.
Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
Ensure that all work meets industry standards, is technically reliable and performed in a timely and cost‑efficient manner.
Provide support for line crews during all phases of construction activity.
Direct traffic flow in accordance with local DOT guidelines.
Communicate with other workers to coordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a current CDL A.
3+ years of experience as a communications, aerial or telecommunications lineman and knowledge to detect power space violations and safety issues.
Must be able to climb pole to cable height using pole climber gaffs.
Must be able to pull and lash fiber.
Must be able to spend significant time doing manual labor, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces, and performing physically demanding tasks.
Must be able to perform heavy physical work safely and efficiently.
Must possess and have the ability to safely use hand tools, equipment and climbing gear.
Must be able to safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, if needed.
Must be able to safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders.
Must be able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck up to 40 feet.
Must be available for overtime on weekdays and/or weekends and willing to travel as required.
Must be able to work in an all‑weather environment.
All applicants must follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
All applicants must speak English fluently and clearly.
A pre‑employment, on‑site certification will be required. The applicant must successfully show that he/she can complete the duties as described in this document to the satisfaction of construction supervision.
Successful candidates will need a current valid driver's license (preferably a CDL A) with a clean MVR.
Successful candidates will be subject to a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test, random testing and an MVR check after the date of hire.

Must be able to lift, dig, reach, and carry heavy objects on a regular basis.
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
Must possess manual dexterity in hands, fingers, and arms to effectively operate power tools, controls, and specialized equipment.
Must meet specific vision requirements:
Close vision
Color vision
Peripheral vision
Depth perception
Ability to adjust focus
Must be able to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly as part of daily job duties.
Regular ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or transport equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
Must be able to navigate job sites, including moving between varying terrain and locations within the work environment.
