St. Mary of the Woods was built with a deep Catholic foundation and has an impeccable reputation for quality care. Built in 2005, it has 179 total units, including 81 independent living apartments, 48 assisted living apartments and 50 rooms in skilled nursing and transitional care. The facility is five‑star, licensed by Medicare and Medicaid, and recognized as a 2024 Best Nursing Home by U.S. News and World Report. It is open to people of any faith tradition.
Responsibilities The Culinary Lead is responsible for leading the work of the staff in the kitchen, in support of the Culinary Director. This position also assists with cooking in the kitchen area.
Qualifications Education:
Degree in Culinary Arts, Dietetics, or related field preferred or extensive experience in lieu of education. ServSafe Certification required.
Experience:
Minimum three years institutional nutrition services experience is required. Previous Lead/Supervisory experience within the food service industry is preferred. State and County Survey experience. Experience within senior care industry preferred.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities:
Demonstrated working knowledge of nutrition services functions and related federal and state regulations.
Demonstrated abilities to participate in and collaborate with groups.
Ability to positively communicate change and model appropriate behaviors to staff and others.
High level of commitment to and success with effective customer service skills.
Effective time management, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Working knowledge of personal computers and related software, including word processing, graphics, and spreadsheet applications.
