Senior Power Generator Technician GenServe

Position Summary As a Level 5 Generator Technician, you are a master technician and key leader in the field. This role requires expert–level diagnostics, repair, and system commissioning across all generator platforms and control systems. You will lead complex projects, resolve high‑level technical issues, support engineering and sales teams, and mentor the next generation of technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Lead advanced service, troubleshooting, and repairs on all generator systems (diesel, natural gas, bi‑fuel, paralleling).

Act as technical lead for complex installations, retrofits, and high‑capacity generator applications.

Program and troubleshoot PLCs, switchgear, load banks, and synchronization systems.

Provide expert diagnostics and root‑cause analysis on recurring or critical failures.

Work closely with engineering teams to design and implement custom solutions for specialized customer requirements.

Oversee and verify commissioning of new systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Commission new generator systems and controls, ensuring compliance with GenServe and industry standards.

Serve as field resource and trainer for Levels 1‑4 technicians.

Conduct advanced OEM and EGSA‑level training within the company.

Write detailed technical service reports.

Provide technical support and consultation to sales, project management, and operations.

Maintain the highest safety and quality standards.

Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays).

Support and be a key escalation point for urgent service calls.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Generation Technology preferred.

Minimum 10 years of hands‑on generator service experience, including commercial and mission‑critical systems.

EGSA Certified Technician – Journeyman.

Extensive experience with OEMs such as Generac, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, and CAT.

Expertise in electrical theory, engine operation, paralleling systems, and control integration.

Strong knowledge of NFPA 110, NFPA 70E, and OSHA standards.

Proven ability to lead large projects and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

Proficient with remote monitoring systems and network communications.

Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in field/outdoor conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading field commissioning for multi‑generator systems or data center infrastructure.

Proficiency in Paralleling Switchgear Systems.

Proficiency in SCADA, remote monitoring systems, and network configurations.

Project management or supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

Primarily field‑based with occasional office coordination.

Requires travel to job sites, including remote and high‑demand environments.

May include night/weekend work, extended shifts, and emergency response.
