SPED Para II-Secondary – Alpine School District
Position: Special Education Para-Educator II (non-contract, no benefits). Hours per day: 5.5 (29 hours per week). Hourly rate: $17.58.

Job responsibilities include:
Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher (e.g., listening to students read, assisting with art projects, cooking, physical education, etc.) to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
Assists in scheduling meetings for teachers.
Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (e.g., medication) to meet immediate health care needs.
Attends job‑specific trainings (e.g., first aid, behavior management) to acquire and convey information relevant to job functions.
Collects data to support teachers in the classroom and prepare reports and/or processing forms.
Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions under the supervision of an assigned teacher to reinforce learning concepts and acquire appropriate social and school skills.
Maintains instructional materials and files (e.g., decorating bulletin boards, making art projects, correcting papers) to ensure availability of items and meet mandated requirements.
Monitors students during assigned periods throughout various school environments (e.g., rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Provides instruction to students in individual and group activities (e.g., academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills) to reinforce instructional objectives, implement IEP plans, and ensure student success.
Attends meetings and in‑service presentations (e.g., first aid, CPR, emergency procedures) to acquire and convey information relevant to job functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Qualifications:
Minimum age: 16+ years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job‑related experience is desired.
