Lehigh Valley Health Network
Assists with the production and distribution of food and non-food items to the patients of the facility. Assists in meal delivery and clean up to maintain cleanliness during and after meal service. Assists with delivery of carts and pick-up of carts returning to kitchen. Assists in all duties related to meal distribution.
Job Duties
Assists in preparing items such as salads, desserts, or other nourishment.
Delivers clean dishes and utensils to proper kitchen unit.
Delivers late trays and other food items to patient care areas.
Maintains tray line in a clean, neat, and orderly manner.
Disposes of trash and garbage and relines trash barrels.
Performs special cleaning duties as directed by the supervisor.
Serves meals using the established standards to maintain sanitation and quality.
Loads trays onto meal trucks.
Minimum Qualifications
1 year of experience in a related kitchen or food service environment.
Ability to follow strict health and safety standards.
Knowledge of clinical diets.
Strong desire to actively look for ways to continuously help people.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be 18 years old or older.
Physical Demands Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Examples: push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8–10 miles per shift. Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
