The Long Haul Driver is responsible for providing secure, DOT‑compliant transportation of classified materials, equipment, and documents. The role ensures full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and government security requirements for the transport of sensitive and classified cargo. The driver will perform pre‑trip inspections, maintain accurate driving logs, and follow all chain of custody procedures. This position may also require acting as a security escort for uncleared individuals during transport operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations and company procedures.
Transport classified and unclassified materials, equipment, documents, and freight between offsite locations and facilities.
Perform DOT‑mandated pre‑trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date DOT driving hour logbooks.
Ensure proper handling, documentation, and secure transport of classified and sensitive materials.
Adhere to all Government security protocols and chain of custody requirements.
Act as a security escort for uncleared individuals, when required.
Retrieve materials from vendors and ensure accurate recordkeeping of transported items.
Follow all safety protocols to ensure the integrity and security of cargo during transit.
Support classified waste transport activities in compliance with applicable regulations.
Maintain a clean driving record and ensure all licenses and certifications remain current.
Basic Qualifications
Must be able to obtain TS/SCI with Poly Clearance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Requires a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
5+ years of relevant experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
Completion of a formal training program or vocational certification in automotive technology or a related field.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as motor analyzers, pressure gauges, and chassis charts.
Hands‑on experience with disassembly, overhaul, and repair of engines, transmissions, clutches, alternators, starters, and other automotive systems.
Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems as they apply to automotive equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, factory specifications, and wiring diagrams.
Strong understanding of safety practices, preventive maintenance procedures, and quality control standards.
Familiarity with standard automotive hand and power tools.
Ability to perform routine inspections, brake adjustments, wheel alignments, and wiring repairs.
Preferred Qualifications
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s) or equivalent professional credentials.
Experience working with a variety of vehicle types including motorcycles, buses, forklifts, and heavy‑duty trucks.
Specialized training or experience in hydraulics and cooling systems.
Knowledge of energy‑efficient practices in automotive maintenance.
Familiarity with root cause failure analysis and troubleshooting methods.
Experience maintaining maintenance records and adhering to compliance or inspection protocols.
Working knowledge of safety assurance practices in high‑risk environments (e.g., military, government, industrial fleets).
Ability to work with minimal supervision on complex diagnostic and repair tasks.
Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or digital diagnostic platforms.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
