Job Description: A cook is responsible for preparing food items in accordance with recipes and established standards. The person in this position must be able to roll their sleeves up and assist our teams when needed, living our “ONE TEAM. ONE VISION.” philosophy. This person must also provide innovative ways that align with our mission to be the best, most respected hotel company in America.

The job is simple:

Complete all required training

Adhere to all standard operating procedures and property specific brand standards

Provide personalized, friendly service to each and every guest

Knowledge of fundamental principles and procedures of food preparation, short orders, and banquet food service

Implement the highest possible hygiene policies and examine daily the work areas and equipment cleanliness

Follow established recipes to ensure the quality of everything being served to our guests

Optimize your productivity by executing the established daily food prep plan

Obtain feedback on food and service quality, and effectively resolve customer problems and complaints

Practice safe and sanitary work habits

Ensure compliance to all federal, state, brand regulations/requirements

This position works in a high-heat environment and with chemicals on a regular basis

Remember, that nothing is more important than safety and security, so you will do checks and work with the property engineering team and your local vendors to ensure all items are in proper working order and excellent condition

Perform any other duties as requested by management to aid in better operation of the hotel and service to the guests

Necessary Skills:

Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, associate issues, etc.

Must be responsible for safety and security of guests, fellow associates, and hotel assets

Have knowledge of fire alarm system and evacuation procedures

Able to report to scheduled shifts

Able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and in person

Able to work a flexible schedule. We are a 24/7 business which may require work availability of nights, weekends, and holidays

Is organized, honest, and works well with others

Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and person

Has the highest degree of integrity and is humble, living by the Golden Rule

Able to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds

Be able to bend, reach, kneel, push, and stretch and lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds

Can perform work for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment

Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far

Must be able to use/lift arms for up to 8 hours

Must be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, cold and stress

Have finger dexterity for operating equipment

Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand English

Must be able to write

Summary: The role of Cook 1 is to prepare outstanding dishes for our guests. Guest Satisfaction in our restaurant revolves around the food experience, high quality of the food and overall dining experience. The Cook 1 is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry stations or other areas of the kitchen.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential DUTIES / TASK

Professional communication skills are required.

Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.

Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling.

Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.

Previous prep or line cook experience required.

Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines

Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.

Follows recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the company.

Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift.

Cleans and maintains station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills.

Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.

Assists with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas.

Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.

To maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.

To practice safe work habits at all times and to avoid injury to self and others.

To comply with company and departmental safety rules and regulations, including the property handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.

To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested.

ADDITIONAL NEEDS:

Food handlers permit required.

Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions.

Previous prep or line cook experience required.
