Department Summary The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at the University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. This position is available to individuals with research experience working with catalysts, including zeolites and supported metal nanoparticles, as well as measuring reaction rates in gas‑phase reactors. The candidate will be expected to conduct research in the area of catalysis and in‑situ spectroscopy.

Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity and funding.

Required Minimum Qualifications PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. by the start of employment. Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae and include at least three references in the reference section of the application. Additional documents may be uploaded under the “Other Documents” tab.

Preferred Qualifications Research experience in the fabrication of gas‑phase packed bed reactors, NMR spectroscopy (e.g., 1H, 11B, 15N NMR of liquid solutions), X‑ray diffraction, ICP‑OES, in‑situ diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS), temperature‑programmed desorption, probe molecule chemisorption (e.g., CO or H2 pulsed chemisorption), and transmission electron microscopy, as well as catalyst synthesis.

Background Investigation Statement Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre‑employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation does **not** automatically disqualify a candidate.
