Special Education Teacher: Reading Specialist
RFK Community Alliance has an exciting opportunity for a full‑time Special Education Teacher – Reading Specialist to join our team in Lancaster, MA.
Pay Range: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year.
Base Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year.
Responsibilities
Work with the literacy specialist and classroom teachers to assess students’ reading abilities and develop plans to support students requiring reading and literacy intervention.
Provide mentor support and instruction to teachers and instructional assistants in the areas of reading acquisition and direct pull‑out services for individual students.
Work with parents to develop reading intervention programs to complement the school for students who need reading and language arts support at home.
Provide direct 1:1, small group and/or push‑in reading services as outlined on students’ individualized education plans.
Design and implement high‑quality instruction to students with reading needs including mild‑to‑moderate reading disabilities.
Provide explicit instruction using evidence‑based reading intervention practices to students with identified reading needs.
Utilize student strengths and data analysis to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
Attend and participate in IEP team meetings (annual, 3‑year re‑evaluation, and as needed).
Requirements
Master’s Degree with specific training in assessment and screening.
Massachusetts Educator’s License in Reading, all levels.
One year of teaching and/or providing intervention services in the area of reading and language arts.
Familiarity with educational testing and informal assessment and structured multi‑sensory sequential reading programs preferred.
Shift Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm (37.5 hours).
