Job Summary The UGE Laborer/Groundman (non‑egz) prepares and cleans construction sites, loads and unloads building materials, operates equipment and machines, and assists craft workers with their duties. This role supports the Construction team and collaborates with department personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
Responsibilities
Clean and prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and possible hazards.
Assist tradesmen in completing their skilled tasks more effectively.
Identify utilities and watch dig crews to prevent utility hits.
Clean up and maintain equipment.
Restock trucks with supplies, ensuring crews have the proper tools and materials to complete the job.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current and valid state driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
1 year of experience in a construction or laborer role.
Current and valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Physical Demands and Work Environment This position operates in a field environment that requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting. The role also demands working in inclement weather conditions—including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind—while consistently carrying and lifting up to 50 pounds. Clear vision to at least 20 feet is required, along with precise hand‑eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors.
