Concession/Gate/Slide Attendant

Garden City Parks & Recreation is now accepting Concession/Gate/Slide Attendant applications for the Summer 2026 season. This role offers an opportunity to work as part of a team while developing responsibility, communication skills, and customer service experience that contributes to a positive recreational experience for the community. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for a variety of customer service and operational support duties at Garden Rapids at the Big Pool, including assisting with admissions, concession sales, slide operations and general facility support to help ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for visitors.
Responsibilities
Greets patrons and provides general information regarding pool rules, hours, programs, and fees
Operates the admission gate including checking passes and collecting fees
Operates concession activities, including food and beverage preparation, sales transactions, and cash handling
Maintains cleanliness and organization of the concession area, gate area, and surrounding pool areas
Operates water slide(s) in accordance with established safety procedures and usage guidelines
Enforces slide rules and communicates clearly with patrons to ensure safe use
Monitors areas for safety concerns and promptly reports issues to supervisors
Assists with opening, closing, and securing assigned areas of the facility
Performs cleaning duties including trash removal, restocking supplies, and wiping surfaces
Works together with lifeguards, supervisors and other Parks & Recreation staff to support daily operations
Must be minimum age of 14 prior to beginning employment in this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic customer service principles and cash-handling procedures
Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with patrons of all ages. Multi-lingual skills preferred.
Ability to follow safety rules, procedures, and supervisory instructions
Ability to remain attentive and responsive in a busy public environment
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to hand money accurately and responsibly
Work is performed primarily at a municipal aquatic facility, including outdoor pool areas, slides, splash pad, etc. The position involves frequent interaction with the public and exposure to water, pool chemicals, heat, humidity, sun, and varying weather conditions.

Point-of-sale (POS) systems
Concession equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, food warmers, and beverage machines
Water slide operating controls and safety equipment
Cleaning supplies and basic maintenance tools
Two-way radios and other communication devices
Personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
