Resident Assistant (Aide) – Special Needs Assisted Living (Memory Care). Part Time Days – 8 hours per week. This rewarding position allows you to make a real difference in the lives of residents who have memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias. Our 66‑bed community on 14 acres in East Greenbush, NY, offers a thoughtfully designed residential setting for residents’ comfort and safety.
As a Resident Assistant at Hawthorne Ridge, you will play a vital role in enhancing residents’ lives, ensuring compassionate, respectful care under the supervision of an LPN and/or RN.
Position Summary The Resident Assistant is a caregiver providing assistance to residents, adhering to the SPHP Code of Conduct and supporting the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions.
Core Competencies
Supports the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, Values in all encounters with residents and families.
Adheres to the SPHP Code of Conduct.
Demonstrates accountability as an individual and team member in meeting basic resident and family needs.
Clinical Competencies
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility in a respectful, compassionate manner.
Assist residents in taking medications as needed.
Encourage and support resident independence and dignity.
Monitor resident safety and well‑being, reporting changes to the LPN; consult with the LPN/RN on any changes in health status.
Build meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their personal histories, preferences, and routines, and anticipate their needs.
Help with light housekeeping and meal service as needed to maintain a safe and clean living space.
Participate in team meetings and communicate/collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.
Promote a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.
Education Requirements
Must possess patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in senior care, health care, or assisted living preferred, but not required.
Must Be Able To
Follow care plans and safety protocols.
Use computers, including electronic health records, checking email, and performing required in‑service trainings.
Have the physical, visual, and auditory ability adequate to perform resident care.
Maintain composure and positivity in a high‑stress environment.
Promote the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well‑being of each resident.
Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness.
Pay Range $16.70 – $20.36 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
