Liberty Healthcare seeks applicants for a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship in Psychology at the Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment & Detention Facility in Rushville, Illinois.
About the Facility The Treatment & Detention Facility is a state‑of‑the‑art secure residential treatment facility that provides a wide array of mental health services to over 500 detained and civilly committed adult sexual offenders.
Clinical services are delivered by a dedicated team of over forty psychologists, clinical social workers, professional counselors, psychiatrists, and recreation therapists.
Program Details This one‑year fellowship begins in August 2026 and ends in August 2027.
At program completion, fellows will be considered for continued employment with Liberty Healthcare.
Fellows will receive a minimum of two hours of licensed supervision each week, one from the Director of Training & Research and another from a licensed psychologist on staff.
Responsibilities
Co‑facilitate sex‑offender specific group treatment (approximately 15 hours per week).
Manage a primary caseload of approximately 15 residents, including treatment planning and case conceptualization.
Complete a minimum of six in‑depth psychological batteries and several cognitive assessments during the training year.
Training Experiences
Intensive group treatment of sexually violent persons using a co‑therapist model of research‑driven, cognitive‑behavioral treatment.
Primary therapist responsibilities with a sexual offender population, including individualized treatment planning and support.
Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests and write comprehensive psychological evaluations for offenders entering sex‑offender treatment.
Research opportunities as available.
Formal Training Opportunities
Monthly all‑staff case conferences and group training in sexual offender treatment.
Twice‑weekly didactic seminars.
Off‑site field trips.
Compensation and Benefits This is a full‑time position offering an annual stipend of $55,000.
Benefits include 180 hour paid time off (22.5 eight‑hour days), medical and dental insurance, and other benefits.
Fellows will work standard 40‑hour workweeks, Monday through Friday.
Eligibility and Requirements
Successfully completed a pre‑doctoral internship.
Successfully defended dissertation.
Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
Must pass all pre‑employment security procedures required by the Illinois Department of Human Services and Liberty Healthcare.
Must meet licensure eligibility requirements for the Illinois Licensed Associate Sex Offender Treatment Provider credential. Assistance with this will be provided.
