Building Principal and Custodial Supervisor Job Goal
To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop. Performance Responsibilities
Keep floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Dust and clean furniture and fixtures on a daily schedule. Keep wastebaskets empty and clean. Clean chalkboards on a scheduled basis. Report to the custodial supervisor and building principal any acts of vandalism, any evidence of deliberate or excessive littering, and any behavior by students that is demeaning to the custodian. Clean and sanitize all restrooms, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains on a daily basis. Keep grounds free of rubbish. Promptly report needed major repairs. Operate various floor care equipment, high and low speed buffers, carpet shampoo machines, and vacuum cleaners. Safely operate lawn equipment. Remove snow from entrances and sidewalks. Replace light tubes and bulbs in fixtures. Clean and/or replace ceiling tiles. Operate laundry washer and dryer. Perform laundry duties maintaining sports uniforms, sports towels, kitchen towels, shop rags, custodian rags, and mop heads. Operate swimming pool equipment and maintain related records. Set up equipment for activities including sports, academics, social meetings, and programs both school and non-school related. Assume responsibility for building security at all times. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the custodial supervisor or building administrator. Terms of Employment
Wage and length of employment to be established by the board of education. Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of support services personnel. Essential Functions Of The Job
Ability to operate various floor care machines. Ability to remove snow as needed. Ability to replace light tubes and bulbs in fixtures. Ability to replace ceiling tiles as needed. Physical Requirements Of The Job
Very rarely requires physical exertion beyond walking. Very rarely requires physical exertion beyond walking or climbing stairs. Requires prolonged (over 50% of time) standing and walking. Requires prolonged (over 75% of time) standing and walking. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, push heavy objects or materials. Frequently (over 20% of time) requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or materials. Frequently (over 33% of time) requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or materials. Over 50% of the time requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or materials. In addition to items 5, 6, 7, & 8, occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Driving skills and physical ability required to drive vehicle. Special physical, agility and reaction time tests required. Ability to perform first aid and CPR. "Heavy" means not over 50 pounds.
