Automotive Porter – Van Bortel Subaru
Van Bortel is currently hiring for a Porter position in our service department. This full‑time role offers a variety of benefits. The schedule consists of 3 days per week, either a Monday–Wednesday shift or a Thursday–Saturday shift, both 7:30 am – 9:00 pm, with a one‑hour lunch and a half‑hour dinner. The shift worked will rotate every 4‑5 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers in the service drive and conduct a walk‑around inspection of their vehicles.
Direct customers to Service Advisors and prepare vehicles for service by installing a window tag, a matching key tag, covering the seat, and installing a floor mat.
Park cars in the designated service lot and hang the keys.
Retrieve cars for customers, and maintain the parking and retrieval of Service Loaner cars as directed.
Keep the service drive lane clean and provide shuttle rides as needed.
Pick up and drop off customers’ cars to their homes when required, and complete a daily cleaning checklist with other porters.
This is a team position of 2–3 porters per shift who share responsibilities and work together to maintain the service drive. The ideal candidate will be reliable, able to work the 3‑day shift each week, independent, and able to perform additional duties during slower periods. The position requires the ability to walk, stand, and bend for long periods of time in varying environmental conditions.
Qualifications
Able to drive both standard and manual transmission vehicles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Access to reliable transportation to and from work for every shift.
