Senior Water Servicer - Meter

Performs intermediate skilled and semiskilled work maintaining water meters and boxes, oversees the daily work of Water Servicers, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Water Service Field Supervisor. This position is subject to shift hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., as assigned. Employees assigned to qualifying second shift working hours will be eligible for shift differential pay.
Utilizes City vehicle; utilizes an iPad or other devices to assist with job duties; disconnects/connects water service; performs meter/meter box maintenance; installs and removes meters; troubleshoot and repair minor leaks.
Assists in performing the regular water service work related to meters and meter boxes, to include identifying and resolving difficult or unusual concerns with water service on site, by phone, or in person with the customers, associates and supervisors.
Prioritizes, assigns, and dispatches work to Water Servicers and themselves; oversees the daily work of Water Servicers and assists with technical support for field and office activity.
Provides customer service; manages assigned truck maintenance and truck inventory.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in repairing meters, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures; thorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; comprehensive knowledge of the principles of water meter operation; thorough knowledge of plumbing, including basic trouble shooting and repair; thorough knowledge of the geography and street locations of the town; ability to display mechanical aptitude and skill in the use of mechanical equipment and tools; ability to disassemble, repair and adjust water meters; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to keep records of work performed; ability to enter confined spaces; ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with associates, supervisors, and the general public.
Physical Requirements: This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to vibration and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, working with explosives and wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
