Position Purpose
To provide general outdoor facilities support for the Operations Department.
Essential Functions
Performs maintenance and care for school grounds and athletic fields, including football, baseball and soccer fields.
Inspects flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns and turf for evidence of insects, fungi and other pests.
Coordinates with staff to aid in mowing or repair of sprinkler equipment.
Mows school grounds and athletic fields with hand and power mowers; prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and appearance.
Applies fertilizers and weed control chemicals in compliance with law.
Maintains, repairs and connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawns, athletic fields, and flower beds.
Adjusts and repairs lawn equipment, sprinklers and other equipment.
Handles emergency situations that might occur.
Other duties as assigned by Facilities Manager.
Contributes positively to team morale, maintaining a positive, pleasant demeanor.

Operations Staff Expectations
Maintain school-issued tools and equipment in good working order.
Wear the appropriate uniform during working hours.
Be available to work beyond the regular schedule as directed and approved by supervisor.
Wear personal protective equipment for jobs requiring a certain level of protection.
Complete training on all equipment used for job function prior to using the equipment.
Submit time‑off requests two weeks prior to requested dates; requests will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis according to business need.
Coordinate job‑duty responsibilities with manager prior to taking scheduled time off.
Police assigned areas for hazards, cleanliness and maintenance and address as necessary or escalate to appropriate resolution channel.
Notify supervisor immediately if an unsafe condition is discovered or encountered.
Work safely and in accordance with local, state and federal laws, industry standards and school‑directed safe practices.
Received overtime pay if non‑exempt employee works outside the regular schedule.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years of experience in a similar position, preferably at an independent school.
Valid CA driver’s license upon request.
Proficiency in maintaining various types of landscaping and athletic fields.
Proven ability to work equally well as a team and individually.
Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
Available to work occasional overtime on evening and weekend events.
Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Effective communication with all constituents in a school environment; conversational Spanish preferred.
Ability to safely operate a golf cart in accordance with school policies and safety guidelines.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Regularly operates a variety of power tools and equipment.
Regularly stoops, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches.
Travel safely and comfortably across the 63‑acre campus.
Climb ladders, including roof tops.
Regularly manipulate up to 75 lbs while using proper lifting/moving techniques.
Use close and distance vision regularly.
Work in a wide variety of environments found throughout the school.
