Electrical Technician I
– Support our SJE Revere brand. This position will be based in
Birmingham, Alabama .
The Job As an Electrical Technician I, you will be responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the design, layout, assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical control panels and wiring used in electrical systems. You must have mechanical aptitude, read work orders, schematics, and production drawings, and follow production guidelines. You will work with other departments to problem‑solve assembly issues and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret detailed drawings or schematics to mount and connect electrical panel components including switches, pilot lights, surge suppressors, circuit breakers, relays, VFDs, PLC hardware.
Collaborate with Team Lead, Production Supervisor, and engineering to ensure product quality.
Coordinate with shipping and receiving to verify part availability and assist with shipping goods.
Perform fabrication as needed; layout and install components on subpanels and enclosures.
Install and shape conduit using mechanical or hydraulic conduit benders.
Label and terminate wires or cables to electrical components and terminals.
Maintain safety practices and procedures.
Ensure equipment is in proper working order and report reliability issues to management.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Working knowledge of drafting, electrical system layout, blueprint reading, and mathematics; understanding of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical system installation and maintenance.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Solid grasp of electrical theory principles as applied to circuits and wiring systems.
Proficiency in operating production tools and reading specifications.
Ability to follow proper methods, procedures, and safety precautions of line work and to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
