Position Summary An optician is an eyewear consultant who educates patients on doctor‑recommended vision solutions. The role involves advising on lens options, creating a fun shopping environment with fashionable eyewear, maintaining displays, and managing optical inventory. Administrative duties include calculating copays based on insurance eligibility and preparing work orders for the optical lab.

Essential Responsibilities
Assist patients in the selection of spectacles, providing education on quality choices, lens selection, and frame styling to fit lifestyle and prescription.
Calculate insurance copay based on eligibility.
Accurately enter spectacle orders and monitor status daily to ensure timely delivery.
Receive spectacle orders into the system, verify, notify patients, and schedule dispensing.
Contact patients for follow‑up on adaptation to dispensed eyewear and prescribed contacts.
Perform adjustments and repairs when necessary.
Troubleshoot patient concerns with eyewear when necessary.
Maintain inventory of all aspects of the optical retail area, including lab supplies, and report inventory as required. Maintain displays of optical merchandise. Monitor patient flow throughout the office and communicate delays appropriately.
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead.
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent.
Sales/retail experience preferred.
Previous optician experience is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Talking, hearing, and other physical requirements; primarily sedentary work involving sitting most of the time.
Required visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
