Nurse Aide Instructor
Position Summary
Lehigh Carbon Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Aide Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for providing students with the knowledge, skills, and hands‑on experience necessary to successfully pass the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Exam. The instructor ensures that nurse aide students are trained in the knowledge and skills required to provide quality care in long‑term care and other healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Student Development
Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure students meet program objectives.
Demonstrate and supervise nurse aide skills, including patient care, safety procedures, and infection control practices.
Prepare students for the certification exam by conducting practice tests, reviewing exam content, and providing feedback on performance.
Classroom Management & Compliance
Ensure a safe and organized learning environment that promotes skill mastery and professional conduct.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date attendance records, grading, and student progress reports.
Enforce program policies and adhere to PDE and college guidelines.
Monitor and ensure students meet clinical hour requirements and demonstrate competency.
Student Support & Evaluation
Provide individual and group support to help students develop proficiency in nurse aide skills.
Evaluate student performance through skills assessments, written exams, and hands‑on demonstrations.
Offer constructive feedback and guidance for continuous improvement.
Encourage and motivate students throughout the program, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unencumbered license in the state of Pennsylvania.
Have at least one year of nursing experience in a long‑term care facility (nursing home).
Must have completed a PA Department of Education‑approved Teaching the Educator (TTE) program with proof of completion/certificate on hire.
Strong instructional and communication skills.
Proficiency in clinical skills relevant to nurse aide training.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with LCCC staff and students.
Organizational skills to effectively manage class schedules, records, and evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a nurse aide instructor.
Experience with adult education or workforce training.
Familiarity with Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation standards.
Work Environment
Combination of classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
May require evening or weekend hours.
Must be able to stand, walk, and supervise students in clinical areas for extended periods.
Licensure And Certification
Current Pennsylvania RN License (required).
Teaching the Educator (TTE) Certificate (required).
BLS Certification (required).
