Base pay range $18.10/yr - $21.63/yr
Responsibilities The Authorization and Referral Specialist is responsible for the timely processing, submitting, scheduling and follow up of referrals and requests for treatment authorizations as required by payer. The specialist tracks existing referrals by program and payer, and provides excellent customer service to patients, employees, and the public. The candidate must be flexible, organized, and able to manage a demanding workload accurately.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. UNLV Health does not provide employment sponsorships or sponsorship transfers for any positions.

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalency
Qualifications
Two years in the medical field, including front office, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization
Must be bilingual in English/Spanish
Knowledge of health plans, eligibility, and guidelines
Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English
Demonstrated ability to use a computer
Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
Experience with the Seriously Mentally Ill population preferred
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT billing codes a plus
Physical Requirements
May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
May include performing repetitive tasks
May include lifting up to 25 pounds
