The E-Content and Discovery Librarian provides leadership for developing and assessing the CCBC Library’s electronic collections. The E-Content and Discovery Librarian will have broad responsibilities in collections management, including assessment, record keeping and communication and outreach. This position works closely with library collections, systems, and cataloging.

The E-Content and Discovery Librarian also provides reference service on the information desk, participates in formal and informal information literacy instruction, and serves as a liaison to a CCBC school for collection development, instructional content, and outreach.

Required Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited institution required. Two year of relevant experience.

Preferred Community college experience preferred. Experience preferred in a professional academic library.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Responsibilities

Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based instruction.

Collaborate with classroom faculty to plan library instruction sessions aligned with course objectives and assignments.

Conduct reference interviews and consultations.

Create research guides and other print and digital learning objects and teaching aids.

Serve as a library liaison to one or more academic departments.

Staff information desk, including opening, evening, and Saturday hours.

Participate in collection maintenance projects and collection development.

Communicate effectively by responding to e-mails and phone calls in a timely manner.

Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.

Collaborate with department by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.

Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College and School meetings.

Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.

Coordinates the full life cycle of electronic resources, including ebooks, ejournals, databases, etc., including trials, subscriptions, budgeting, and activating/deactivating.

Serves as lead for troubleshooting and resolving access issues and maintaining documentation of e-resource collection acquisition, accessibility, and usage.

Chairs the library’s electronic resources committee to produce evidence-based decision-making and increase awareness of library products.

Manages and negotiates license agreements and contract renewals with both internal and external constituents.

Recommends, implements, and supports emerging technologies.

Captures and analyzes data to support collection assessment and improve selection. Monitors and analyzes use of library collections and interlibrary borrowing with an eye to changes in information seeking behavior.

Works with Systems librarian to identify and implement cutting-edge research tools.

Oversee the lifecycle of research guides, setting standards for content quality, usability, and accessibility, while mentoring colleagues in effective guide creation and resource curation.
