Job Overview: Supervise, train, and inspect the performance of assigned room and floor attendants ensuring that all procedures are completed to the standards of the hotel. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.

Reports To:

Director of Housekeeping / Assistant Director of Housekeeping

Supervises:

Room Attendants, Housepersons

Key Relationships:

Internal—Housekeeping Staff, Laundry Attendants, Front Office Managers, Bell Staff, Maintenance Staff, Food and Beverage; External—Hotel guests/visitors, hotel vendors/suppliers.

Essential Job Functions:

Verify room status on AM report; report discrepant rooms; prioritize and update status of check‑out rooms.

Distribute assignment sheets, room keys and beepers to designated staff and maintain accurate records of assignments for security.

Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.

Inspect supply levels, cleanliness, and organization of floor closets and assign staff to rectify situations.

Check room attendant’s closets for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness, or mechanical problems.

Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned attendants using a designated checklist to ensure rooms meet hotel standards and follow up with necessary corrections.

Check vacant rooms, verify status and update status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift, and check DND rooms for status.

Mark dirty sheets of randomly selected assigned rooms and follow up to ensure attendants have changed sheets. Counsel when necessary.

Inspect public areas, restrooms, meeting and office spaces for cleanliness using a designated checklist.

Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to housekeeping. Contact engineering directly for urgent repairs.

Accommodate guest requests for housekeeping items or additional supplies expediently and courteously. Follow up on delivery and return of all such items.

Monitor and handle guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.

Provide feedback on staff performance to manager and report any disciplinary problems.

Document pertinent information in the departmental log book.

Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action necessary.

Check PM reports for accuracy and completeness. Complete night counts in accordance with departmental standards.

Successfully complete the training/certification process.

Assist in other areas of housekeeping as assigned and attend designated meetings.

Qualifications: Essential:

3–5 years experience as Room Attendant.

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment.

Knowledge of proper and safe chemical handling.

Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co‑workers, and management. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow‑through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with a minimum of supervision.

Ability to maintain hotel standards, policies, and procedures; prioritize and organize work assignments; direct performance of assigned staff and follow up with corrections as needed.

Desirable:

High school graduate.

Previous supervisory experience and guest relations training.

Bilingual – English / Spanish.

Physical Abilities:

Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.

Ability to lift, bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull heavy loads; may require lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 50 lb.
