HC-One are looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. Beyond that, it’s about your bright, positive energy and ability to get along with people. You’ll be organised, meet deadlines, present your food attractively, have a knack for following recipes, and communicate with Residents and co-workers in a considerate and kind way. In your role, you’ll value kindness and support the wellbeing of Residents in our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist Care homes.
Main duties of the job Cook and serve nutritious, healthy meals that Residents will love. Provide outstanding support to the First Chef, taking charge in their absence. Manage food stock, help maximise the budget, coach a colleague, and supervise kitchen clean-up with Resident wellbeing in mind.

Job responsibilities As an Assistant Chef you will:
Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and apply HACCP principles.
Work with energy and organisation, following recipes accurately.
Support the First Chef, manage stock and budgets, coach colleagues, and supervise kitchen clean-up.
Prioritise Resident wellbeing in all duties and communicate kindly with Residents and colleagues.
Recognise safeguarding responsibilities and participate in safeguarding training; know how to seek advice or escalate concerns if needed.
Job description Other aspects of the role include maintaining cleanliness, following food safety guidelines, and contributing to a positive dining experience for Residents. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and appropriate training and ongoing development are provided where applicable.
Person specification / Qualifications / Experience Required: Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate; good understanding of HACCP; ability to work as part of a team in a care home environment.
