Summary Provides direct monitoring for incapacitated individuals under a legal guardianship in Bexar County and surrounding contiguous counties and case management assistance to eligible clients seeking guardianship and or alternatives to guardianship for a three‑month time period. Court monitor responsibilities are a part of the Bexar County contract and include weekly and monthly goals for visits to clients under legal guardianship.
Position Responsibilities
Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner
Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
Visit wards in home, group setting or virtual to determine condition and report to the court on well‑being of ward
Prepare court order for Court Monitor visits
Draft letter to Guardian regarding monitoring visits
Prepare Court Report for Court to review
Contact necessary parties & conduct interview with wards
Assist Clients with annual guardianship reports
Upload Court Orders onto Cerenade and complete Charity Tracker demographics monthly
Visit wards and prepare annual court visit reports for court
Meet weekly numbers and monthly numbers of visits as set by supervisor
Assist in training of Guardianship Volunteers
Answer client calls and inquiries as needed for Guardianship
Attend staff development educational trainings as required
Assist Volunteer Coordinator as needed with materials for Volunteers/Nursing Students
Review annual reports and update court monitor spreadsheet if needed
Help outreach coordinator with outreach presentations
Conduct virtual visits as necessary
Attend team meetings with court monitor coordinator on reporting and updates on contract requirements
Any other duties assigned by the program director, senior legal director, or court visitor coordinator
Organize and clean the file room and/or storage room

Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in social work or social service‑related field preferred
Experience
Minimum of two years’ experience in customer service with at least two years of experience in direct service and/or working with people with mental and physical disabilities
License and Credentials
Reliable transportation
Must be at least 21 years old
Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Have valid vehicle liability insurance
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
Minimum Knowledge And Skills
Minimum of two years’ experience in social services including working with clients, working in group home settings, etc;
Extensive working knowledge of people with mental and physical challenges and social services;
Experience with computer software and Microsoft Outlook (i.e., Zoom software preferred);
A solid grasp of analyzing wards safety and report writing;
Must be detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, work well independently and on a team;
Must have good written and verbal skills;
Must have good critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
