Mechanical Assembler
Position Summary: The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical components and systems utilizing engineering blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. Working closely with other assemblers to connect components and construct large mechanical products.
Employment Type: Full Time - Hourly
Key Responsibilities
Perform assembly, fitting, filing, reaming, riveting, crimping, swaging, and adjusting operations
Use a variety of light machine tools such as drill press, arbor press, air and hydraulic presses and simple die sets, riveting machine hand tools
Trim and file parts to fit, and verify fitting tolerances, using measuring instruments such as gauges and calipers
Use micrometers, force gauges, calipers, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and other types of precision measuring tools and equipment
Work with team members to layout, fabricate, assemble, and modify jet engine assemblies or test articles, test stands, equipment, and support systems
Operate a wide variety of tools to assemble a jet engine or operate support utilities to run the test article
Work with team members in setting up the test stand, and preparing and mounting the test article per procedure
Prepare test article for proper storage and transportation
Work with team members and supervisor when necessary
Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Three years or more experience in mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
Experience using wrenches, calipers, micrometers, air levels, drills, taps, hand grinder, torque wrench
Experience in operating crane, forklift, scissor lifts
Ability to read assembly and detailed mechanical drawings, fluid schemes, blueprints
Knowledge of mechanical, schematics, hydraulics and pneumatics
Ability to read assembly tolerance requirements and identify the correct tools to meet requirements
Strong mechanical aptitude
Experience working in large machinery
Minimum of High school, GED, or equivalent only.
Vocational/trade school certificate preferred
Must be dependable and willing to work the hours scheduled including overtime and weekends.

Rockford, IL
Pay: $17.76-30.00 per hour
